The Beach House

Inspired by an upcoming vacation, I made this little beach house. I've been wanting to use that Grandt Line lattice gable trim for quite some time!

  3. So cute! Love it. (Are the stilts an East Coast thing? I've lived in California all my life and have NEVER seen a beach house raised like that...)

    1. The stilts are to help prevent damage from high water. Some beach houses have them - after Sandy, it seems like a good idea.

  4. Gorgeous, gorgeous. I am doing a 1/12th sort of like this next summer and may do a 1/48th this winter so yes, inspiring, set many ideas rattling round my head. Thank you.

  8. Wherever there are hurricanes, you'll find homes raised --sometimes required by local building codes. A building can be a generic beach cottage, or with touches like stilts, it could be made specific to a particular place. Along with the deck, this makes for an impressively accurate miniature. Congratulations!
