I began making miniatures at the age of five. After receiving my B.A. in art history from the University of Delaware, I worked in the fashion industry and as a fine arts appraiser before becoming a special effects model maker. During my years in the motion picture industry, I worked with many prominent directors, including John Dykstra, Steven Spielberg, Douglas Trumbull and Ridley Scott.
In 1993, I left special effects to devote myself entirely to creating 1:144 scale miniatures as an art form. My work is represented in numerous museums in the United States and Europe, as well as many private collections. I was awarded the title of Fellow by the International Guild of Miniature Artisans in 1998.
My aim as a visual artist is to create miniature worlds that will entice others to see with new eyes, and to share my fascination with the delicate and subtle details that are everywhere around us, and yet so easily overlooked.
I will be teaching this Victorian Cottage at the IGMA Guild School in 2012. There is one opening left in the class as of 1/11/12. For more information, go to www.igma.org
